Tai Yi Milk King

In an attempt to cool down from the unrelenting heat, Mimi and I ventured out to try some shaved ice. Knowing that Gary would be taking us to Ice Monster later on during our trip, we decided to visit Tai Yi Milk King (臺一牛奶大王) across from the National Taiwan University Sports Center.

After waiting in a quickly moving line for a few minutes we pointed at some pictures hanging on the wall to place our order. The style of ice is the more standard type instead of snow ice but still managed to be pretty soft without any annoying chunks. All the fruit was fresh as expected but the mochi balls really impressed us. Despite sitting in ice, they consistently managed to retain their nice and chewy texture without hardening around skin.

We would definitely go back to try some of the more traditional toppings and the soup based desserts.
